We are very blessed to be involved in a business that allows us to spend time with family as we work. Our two daughters, Brigette and Elaine, accompanied us on the farm since early childhood. In fact, Brigette’s love of food science and ice cream may have come from working with Jim at a New York creamery. As a two-year old, she was his trusted taste tester and could often be heard saying, “more, more.” Elaine, on the other hand, saw our passion for the agricultural industry and wanted to share our story, the story of ordinary American farmers, with others.
We are very pleased our girls wanted to continue their involvement in agriculture and chose to go to the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at Michigan State University. As the fifth generation of Bristols to attend MSU, we are reminded of the importance of higher education, agricultural professionals and the improvement of American agriculture. We hope to be able to pass our farm down to them to maintain a legacy of sustainable agriculture in our family.
